Exporting Boundary Shapes for Territory Mapping
Last updated: September 24, 2026
To map your service territory on Texture, we need the actual polygon shapes from your GIS system — not a list of points.
Exporting from Esri / ArcGIS
Identify the layer(s) to export. This is typically your service territory boundary layer.
Export the layer, keeping it as polygons. Use ArcGIS's or similar export/data interoperability tools to export the layer without converting the polygons to points.
Save the export as GeoJSON or Shapefile. Either format works — see Good to know below for details on each.
Share the file(s) with your Texture contact. For a shapefile export, log into the Texture platform and upload the file from Connect > File share.
Good to know
Both formats work. GeoJSON and Shapefile are both accepted — use whichever is easier to export from your GIS provider.
Polygons, not points. If a layer has already been reduced to centroids or point markers, the original polygon source layer is what we need — points can't be used for the intersection match.
